Can't find Shadowrocket on the China App Store? Check your Apple ID region and store availability

Learn how App Store availability relates to your Apple Account’s country or region, where to check the store used for Media & Purchases, and what to consider before changing your account region.

At a glance

If Shadowrocket does not appear in the mainland China App Store, first check the Country/Region for the Apple Account used with Media & Purchases, then review the product page’s actual message. Device language, physical location, and the store account’s region are separate settings. This guide walks you through checking the account, confirming the storefront, and reviewing purchase requirements. It’s for anyone seeing no search results, a message that the app is unavailable in their region, or a missing purchase record.

No search results? First rule out a storefront or connection issue

The App Store has different storefronts for each country or region. Whether an app appears, can be purchased, or can be downloaded again depends on the current storefront. If Shadowrocket does not appear in the mainland China storefront, that does not mean you entered the wrong app name. Results from another storefront also do not prove that the app is available to purchase with your current account.

Apple ID is now called Apple Account; this guide uses the familiar term in its title. The account used by the App Store and its country or region determine the purchase context. Your device’s display language, time zone, and Region under Settings → General → Language & Region are not the same as the purchase account’s Country/Region.

Distinguish between two situations. If other apps appear in search but Shadowrocket does not, check the storefront and the app’s availability. If the entire App Store fails to load or you cannot open the account page, start by checking your connection or account verification. “Can’t find it” alone isn’t enough to tell which issue you’re facing.

Check the purchase account on iPhone or iPad

Check the current settings first. Don’t sign out or change your region just to troubleshoot. The paths below use English interface labels. Their location may vary by iOS version and interface language; Settings usually shows your name at the top, not a fixed Apple Account label.

  1. Open your account page

Open Settings and tap the Apple Account area showing your name at the top. Confirm it’s your account, then find Media & Purchases.

  2. Check the purchase account

Tap Media & Purchases to see which account is currently used for media and purchases. It may differ from the account used for iCloud, so don’t draw conclusions from the name at the top of Settings alone.

  3. Check the country or region

Go to View Account and complete any required authentication, then open Country/Region. Note the country or region shown. Just view the setting for now; don’t confirm any changes.

  4. Check the App Store

Open the App Store, tap the account icon in the upper-right corner, and check the account details. Return to search, enter the full name Shadowrocket, then use the official verification link at the end of this guide to view the product page.

If you’re not signed in to Media & Purchases, follow the system prompts to sign in to your own account and complete any required verification. If the device is managed by a family or organization, some menus may be unavailable. Check the restrictions shown on the device instead of repeatedly trying to change the region.

Use the product page to decide what to do next

Use search to find apps and the product page to confirm a specific app. When checking Shadowrocket, verify the name, official icon, developer Shadow Launch Technology Limited, and app ID 932747118. Don’t identify an app based only on a similar-looking icon or a name that includes “rocket.”

What you see What it tells you What to do next
Other apps appear in search, but Shadowrocket does not Search is working, but availability in the current storefront has not been confirmed Check Country/Region, then open the product page for the app
Message says the app is unavailable in this country or region The current storefront cannot offer the app for this request Confirm the purchase account’s region; don’t mistake this message for a connection configuration error
Price and purchase button are shown The product page offers a way to purchase, subject to payment and account requirements Check the developer, compatibility, price, and purchase confirmation details
Cloud icon or Open is shown A redownload option is available, or the app is already installed on this device Check the current account’s purchase history and whether the app is installed on this device
Page stays blank or says it cannot connect There isn’t enough information to determine whether the app is available Check whether other product pages open and complete account verification

In short: troubleshoot based on the message

If the product page clearly says the app is unavailable in your region, go back and check the account’s Country/Region. Check your connection first only if the entire store cannot connect. These situations call for different steps.

Shadowrocket is primarily for iPhone and iPad. Check the compatibility section on the same App Store page for details about Mac, Apple TV, and Apple Vision. System requirements and purchase availability are as shown on the App Store page. Being able to open a product page on another device does not guarantee that the app can be installed on your current device.

Check your account before changing Country/Region

Changing your region affects your entire purchase account; it is not a way to switch search results for just one app. Only follow Apple’s account process if your residence, billing details, and payment method meet the requirements for the destination region. Don’t enter fictitious billing details or confuse changing your device’s Region setting with changing your purchase country or region.

After checking everything, if you still need to change your region, go to Settings → Apple Account at the top → Media & Purchases → View Account → Country/Region → Change Country or Region. Read the terms and payment requirements before deciding whether to continue. If the system does not offer a next step, follow the specific instructions shown.

Global Routing does not change your App Store region

If Shadowrocket is already installed, it can be easy to confuse your network exit location with your purchase account’s region. Shadowrocket’s Global Routing controls how connections are handled by policy. It does not edit your Apple Account’s Country/Region or add purchase eligibility for a storefront to your account.

The comparison below covers only Shadowrocket’s three Global Routing settings. They manage network connections; they are not switches for choosing an App Store storefront. If the app isn’t installed, you don’t need to change these settings to check the store region.

Config

Recommended

Choose a policy based on the rules in the currently enabled configuration. The rules will behave as expected only if the configuration and policies are set up correctly. This setting does not change the purchase account’s region.

Best for: users with a working configuration who want to keep managing connections by rule

Direct

Set connections handled by Shadowrocket to connect directly, so you can compare the result with a direct connection on your current network. This does not sign you out of your Apple Account or reset your store details.

Best for: checking whether the store page opens over a direct connection, where the network allows it

Proxy

Route connections handled by Shadowrocket through the selected proxy policy. Even if the connection’s exit location changes, the App Store still checks the purchase account and storefront requirements.

Best for: comparing connection results using a working service you already have

Switching Global Routing on Home or adjusting On Demand conditions in Settings does not replace checking Country/Region. If the product page clearly says the app is unavailable in your region, stop switching network policies and check the purchase account instead.

Purchase history, payment, and redownload FAQs

Why can’t I find the app after changing my device’s Region?

Settings → General → Language & Region controls your device’s regional formats; it does not change your purchase account’s region. Go to Media & Purchases → View Account → Country/Region to check the actual setting, then return to the App Store and check the product page.

Why am I seeing a price if I bought it before?

First check that Media & Purchases is using the account you originally purchased with. Then look for the record under View Account → Purchase History or check your original purchase receipt. Don’t pay again until you’ve confirmed. A purchase record also doesn’t guarantee that the app can be redownloaded from every storefront.

The price appears, but payment fails. Is this a region issue?

A failed payment alone does not tell you the cause. Check the payment method, billing details, account verification, and purchase restrictions shown on the purchase confirmation page. If the message says your payment was declined, resolve the payment issue first; changing Shadowrocket’s Config will not help.

Does the purchase include working servers?

No. Buying the app does not include a service plan. Shadowrocket is a closed-source commercial app sold as a one-time purchase. Any services and subscriptions you already have are managed separately. This site does not provide, sell, or recommend nodes or subscriptions. Check that your own setup meets your needs before purchasing.

The final checks stay the same: confirm the account used for purchases, check Country/Region, read the product page message, then address payment or redownloading. For account balance issues, restricted region changes, or purchase records that don’t match, follow the guidance on your Apple Account page and Apple’s support process. Don’t mistake an account issue for an in-app rules problem.
